Is Your Blu-ray Player Mis-Behaving?
As you may not know, Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs contain software encrypted on to the disc that is downloaded into your player when the disc is inserted. This software provides operating data and instructions and works with your player's internal operating firmware in order to play the disc. This software also provides operating data to the player to enable any special features that may be incorporated into the disc.
We've found that there are some newer Blu-ray releases that may not play properly, if at all, on your player. Firmware upgrades are available at no charge on LG's or the manufacturer's home website. These can be typically found under the "Support" heading. You enter your player's model number and a list will appear of the various firmware versions that have been released. The version that matches your model number and is closest to the top of the list would be the most current.
If your computer has the ability to burn a DVD-R then you can burn yourself an upgrade disc. There are instructions on the website that detail how to perform the upgrade. In a nutshell, you typically insert the disc and press the play button. The player will begin the upgrade and typically the disc will either stop or the drawer will open to indicate the firmware upgrade is complete. If you don't have the ability to make your own disc simply call us and ask to speak with your salesperson. If he's not available simply leave your name and pertinent information with our on duty designer on another member of the sales staff. We will make a copy of the disc and the instructions and have them available for you to pick up at our showroom.
We want to insure that your player will be capable of playing the latest releases.
